The 83 islands of Vanuatu (the name means ‘Land Eternal’) are home to towering volcanoes, untouched rainforests, waterfalls and incredible coral reefs. Taking a yacht charter in Vanuatu brings you to a land that is never hurried; it is a peaceful place where the visitors and natives alike take time to enjoy the natural beauty of the islands.
Day
1
Your Vanuatu yacht charter departs from Espiritu Santo whose majestic beauty has remained unchanged for centuries. Anchor overnight at Aore Island a great location for both fishing and diving. There are a number of sea-wrecks close by, all of which are well worth exploring.
2
Depart for Aese Island, a picturesque island with powdery white-sand beaches. The island provides an excellent place to enjoy water toys and a very good anchorage. There is also a nearby shipwreck which provides a perfect location for diving.
3
Visit Champagne Beach near Hog Harbour. It is well known for its pristine white sands and is considered to be one of the best beaches in all of the Pacific. The water is so clear it looks ‘bubbly’. After dinner, head to Loh Island, in the Torres Islands.
4
Loh Island has a distinct culture with many Solomon Island influences. Explore the island’s magnificent caves, snorkelling or diving. The island is also home to unusual Megapode birds.
5
Cruise to Torres. Most of the islands are sand cays built on volcanic basalt, or on reef that has now elevated above the surrounding seas. You’ll find dazzling beaches.
6
Cruise to Uréparapara Island, an extinct volcano. Dives Bay provides the island with a spectacular natural harbour, formed when the sea breached the volcano on its eastern coast. Enjoy a bat cave tour or explore the rim of the crater.
7
Cruise to Vanua Lava, in the Banks Group. It has mountains, a volcano, crocodiles, reefs, rivers, waterfalls and rainforests. Walk from Sola to Vureas Bay and onwards to Waterfall Bay where the Sasara River falls into a pool by the ocean.
8
Cruise to Maewo, a long and narrow island that is full of lush vegetation and which has a number of beautiful waterfalls. This rugged island is famous for its sorcerers skilled in magic, and one should jump at the opportunity of experiencing traditional Maewo dances and magic rituals.
9
On the final day of your Vanuatu yacht charter, depart early morning for Espiritu Santo Island to dive the wreck of the President Coolidge, the largest accessible ship-wreck for scuba divers in the world. It has shark feeding dives and pristine reef sites.
