Fraser Yachts charter broker Jason Whiting was lucky enough to take part on “fam trip” aboard 64m Benetti superyacht SILVER ANGEL in the Seychelles. In this blog post he shares his daily diary with us and exclusive pictures of life on board a superyacht in an island paradise.

Day 1 - January 28th – Mahé and Curieuse

Upon arrival in the aptly named Eden Island, we were shown to our cabins on board superyacht SILVER ANGEL and treated to a welcome breakfast while moored in the Marina. Shortly after, we embarked on our first cruise to Saint Anne’s channel for a morning of water sports followed by a delicious lobster lunch. Later this afternoon we cruised to Curieuse Island, a former leper colony called Red Island (due to the colour of its soil).  The once very large population of turtles on the Island was almost wiped out by the European colonies but thanks to its current national marine park status there are now around 500 of these wonderful creatures inhabiting the area. After an afternoon of relaxing and exploring we tucked into a dinner of traditional Seychellois dishes served on board and a night at anchor.

Day 2 – January 29th – Praslin

After a one hour morning cruise we arrived in the Baie St Anne on the South East side of the Island of Praslin. A leisurely breakfast was followed by a private tour of the island, the second largest in the Seychelles with a population of 7000. The “Green Heart of Praslin” is the beautiful Vallée de Mai. Home to the iconic Coco de Mer Palm of the Seychelles the valley is also home to many species and offers stunning vistas from the elevated vantage points. After visiting the valley we drove to Anse Lazio where a table was booked at Bonbon Plume, where we sampled fresh creole cuisine right on the beach. The afternoon was spent enjoying water sports and relaxing in the Jacuzzi on the sundeck. At sunset we gathered on the sundeck for sundowners followed by a formal dinner.

Day 3 – January 30th – Ile Cocos & Félicité

This morning an early cruise over breakfast took us to the Iles Cocos Marine Park, one of the Seychelles’ most spectacular landmarks. A morning dive was organised and we experienced some first class diving. After an active morning we enjoyed a Mediterranean lunch onboard followed by a cruise to Félicité, one of the most dramatically beautiful islands in the region. Dinner tonight is Asian style and we are really looking forward to sampling the culinary delights the Chef has in store for us.

Day 4- January 31st – La Digue

This morning a one hour cruise took us to the stunning island of La Digue. We anchored off the beach at Petite Anse and enjoyed one of the finest white sand beaches of the Seychelles and explored the island. A Middle Eastern lunch served on board took us on an exotic gastronomical voyage. An afternoon cruise took us to La Passe, on the west coast. Once at anchor we headed to shore by tender where bicycles, ox carts and taxis are the only means of transport. We hired some bikes and set off exploring, cycling south to the coconut farm and the vanilla bean plantation. After an active afternoon we were happy to settle down to a delicious dinner at Le Combava Restaurant de L’Orangeraie

Day 5 – 1 st February – Ile Thérèse

A three hour early morning cruise took us to the 179-acre islet of Ile Thérèse where the most beautiful white sandy beaches awaited us, nestled between two rocky peaks which resemble a giant’s staircase. A snorkelling and dive session in the crystal clear waters revealed an abundance of sea life. Lunch was Italian style after which we swiftly returned to exploring the marine fauna and making the most of the water toys. I also made sure to sample the on board golfing facilities!   Dinner tonight was a sumptuous barbecue on the beach, where the crew set up a beautiful beach-chic setup for us.

Day 6 – 2nd February - Mahé

For our final day we headed to the south west corner of Mahé Island and anchored off the perfect crescent beach at Anse Soleil. Our morning was spent enjoying the last of the Seychellois sun and time in the water. We discovered some hidden waterfalls too and could not resist taking a dip in the freshwater natural pond!  Lunch consisted of Octopus curry washed down with a locally brewed Seybreu beer at Beach Shack, an authentic taste of the Seychelles. Before heading home, we enjoyed a leisurely late afternoon cruise back to the marina at Eden Island whilst savouring a light pre-departure meal. Currently on a flight back to reality I leave with sweet memories of the Seychelles, the mesmerising scenery, world class diving, delicious food and excellent hospitality we experienced on board SILVER ANGEL.
