bahamas
The Bahamas are a collection of 29 islands and dozens more islets, located in the Atlantic Ocean north of Cuba these islands have for many years been the preferred port of call for those on a luxury charter yacht.
The islands cover a land area of more than 5,300 square miles, and boast between them many hundreds of miles of white sandy beaches which are surrounded by crystal clear waters. Possessing the world’s third largest barrier reef system, the Bahamas are also hugely popular with Caribbean yacht charter guests who enjoy diving. A firm favourite amongst divers is the Current Cut, a reef which surrounds Eleuthera and Harbour Island, which is also known as Briland by locals. After a day’s diving in waters off Harbour Island it is recommended that luxury charter yacht guests take a wander around the charming island, where the main mode of transport is by golf cart. Harbour Island boasts a spectacular three-mile-long beach of sand which has a wonderful pink hue.

Many of The Bahamas islands are populated and offer great opportunities for a wide range of activities on and out of the water, including fishing, shopping and dining. The principal islands are New Providence, which is home to the capital Nassau, Grand Bahama Island, Andros, Cat Cay, Long Island and San Salvador. Also highly recommended on a Caribbean yacht charter in The Bahamas is a visit to the Exumas, a collection of 365 islands and cays which have been the back drop to many famous films including the two James Bond Movies Thunderball and Never Say Never. The two biggest islands of this particular archipelago are called Great Exuma and Little Exuma, which are connected by a bridge. On Great Exuma Island luxury charter yacht guests with a penchant for golf will find a challenging course, designed by Greg Norman, at the Four Seasons Resort at Emerald Bay Marina. Meanwhile, nature lovers can head to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, a 176 square mile natural reserve which is home to the rare Bahamian iguana.
