AWATEA
MOTOR YACHT FOR SALE
AWATEA is a 45-meter/148’ Royal Hakvoort built to go anywhere. Her full-displacement steel hull, flared bow and 4,600nm range at 11.5 knots give her the capability for serious passage making, while her 13.5-knot maximum speed provides useful flexibility. At 499GT, she has unusually generous volume for her size, accommodating up to 14 guests in five staterooms, including a full-beam master suite on the main deck. Built in 2008, she has the robust engineering and substantial proportions more usually associated with a larger yacht.
The yacht is the product of an unusually coherent all-Dutch collaboration. Cor D. Rover designed the exterior, Felix Buytendijk the interior, and Diana Yacht Design the naval architecture and engineering. The result is deliberately restrained rather than aggressively styled: carefully proportioned exterior lines make the most of her volume, while the interior uses the visual language of a sailing yacht — mahogany, handrails, lanterns and coffered ceilings — interpreted with modern proportions, technology and high-quality Dutch joinery. The layout is practical as well as elegant, making exceptional use of the space available.
Her build was equally purposeful. Four years in the making, AWATEA was built to Lloyd’s and MCA standards and was the first Dutch motor yacht constructed under the new Dutch commercial cruising regulations. She is Cayman Islands flagged and Lloyd’s classed, with MCA compliance, although she has only been privately used.
A major technical refit completed in 2026 at Balk Shipyard in the Netherlands represents an investment of more than US$5.5 million. The program focused on critical engineering systems, lifecycle maintenance and technical upgrades rather than cosmetic work, renewing much of what is less visible but fundamental to reliability, structural integrity and long-term value.
AWATEA combines robust Dutch shipbuilding, serious cruising capability, a well-resolved interior and a level of recent maintenance rarely found on comparable yachts currently on the market.
