Technical Superintendent

We are looking for a Technical Superintendent to join our team in Monaco.
Position Overview
The role involves overseeing technical aspects of yachts and ships, providing operational support, and conducting onboard assessments in collaboration with crews and client managers.
As Fraser Yachts’ Representative, the Technical Superintendent will manage day-to-day interactions with vessels, liaising with Class, Flag, and third-party companies. He/she will also maintain client relationships, ensuring services are delivered with diligence and relevance. His/her broad technical knowledge to support operations and major refits, while effective communication with various stakeholders is essential.
The Technical Superintendent fosters team spirit and adheres to company policies, collaborating closely with Yacht Administrators and Crew Coordinators to deliver optimal services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the vessel’s compliance in front of authorities (Class, Flag, Port states) and have her always insured as needed.
- Manage technical failures and liaise with the insurance in case of claim.
- Manage emergency technical response and coordinate efficiently with the team.
- Carefully monitor the on-board maintenance and regularly assess the technical state of the yacht to remain in line with the Shipowner’s expectations (Budget, Asset Value, Availability, Performances…).
- Plan and organize the periodic maintenance periods efficiently, in accordance with the Shipowner’ schedule.
- Develop the work list and specifications with the Crew. Prepare tendering and assist the shipowner in the evaluation of the shipyards proposals.
- Supervise Shipyards and Contractors’ work during repair or maintenance period. Ensure respect of budget, delivery time, safety, and workmanship standards.
- Set an efficient and regular communication line with the clients (Reporting), together with Clients Managers.
- Provide an accurate maintenance budget to the shipowner.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of suppliers and contractors. Identify and source for technical, operational supplies and logistic worldwide.
- Maintain the vessel documentation up to date, well organized and available to the clients.
- Undertake any other technical related assignments as and when required.
Qualification & Skills
- Experience of a minimum of 5 years working experience in the maritime industry is required, preferably in Yachting.
- Broad knowledge of yachts and ships and associated operations, deep understanding of their systems and engineering and have some experience in refits.
- Understanding classification society surveys cycles and requirements.
- Familiarity with IACS Regulations/SOLAS/MARPOL/Large Commercial Yacht Code/MCA/ISM/ISPS is a must.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ship management software.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages is advantageous.
- High standard of education, ideally in naval engineering or related field.
Travel Requirement: Up to 30-40% travel, including national and international travel, may be required.
