Creative Journey Through Kampos
From 3–5 July, guests experienced three days of artistic expression during DEO’s latest exhibition, “Once We Were Gardens”, curated by DEO Founder Akis Kokkinos. The exhibition took place at the historic Karaviko estate, one of the most carefully preserved properties in the area of Kampos. “Once We Were Gardens” examines the inevitable cycles of growth and decay, exploring the deterioration of bodies, ideas, spaces, and relationships through the evocative symbolism of the garden.
“Once We Were Gardens” brings together newly commissioned, site-specific works alongside existing pieces and one garden recreation by twelve international artists –Mohammad Alfaraj, Martha Dimitropoulou, Derek Jarman, Emre Hüner, Maria Loizidou, Anestis Michalis, Natalia Papadopoulou, Yaşam Şaşmazer, Socratis Socratous, Teresa Solar Abboud, Theo Triantafyllidis, Adriana Varejão.
The exhibition will be complemented by a rich program of public events running throughout its duration, including educational activities for children, guided tours of the exhibition and Kampos, talks, an open library, and various other activities in cooperation with local institutions and associations.
As a proud supporter of cultural initiatives and creative dialogue, Fraser is honoured to stand alongside DEO in fostering meaningful artistic experiences on the island of Chios.
