Fraser secures United States Coast Guard ‘Quality Shipping in the Twenty First Century’ certification

Fraser, as well as two research vessels in our Management fleet, have secured the prestigious United States Coast Guard ‘Quality Shipping in the Twenty First Century’ certification.

Fraser managed quality vessels OCEANXPLORER and ODYSSEY have been issued the certificate. ODYSSEY was awarded the certificate based on the excellent track record that she established as ALUCIA. This strong record was transferred when ALUCIA changed ownership and was renamed ODYSSEY.

A quality vessel is associated with a well-run company, is classed by an organisation with a quality track record, is registered with a Flag Administration with a superior Port State Control record, and has an outstanding Port State Control history in U.S. waters.

Also known as ‘Qualship 21’, the certifications rewards commitment to quality, safety and the environment. According to the US Coast Guard, the programme rewards ‘companies, operators, and vessels that demonstrate the highest commitment to quality and safety through the highest level of compliance with International standards and United States law and regulation’.

Valid for three years, the possession of this certificate recognises Fraser’s commitment to quality and safety on board through the highest level of compliance with international standards plus US laws and regulations.

For Owners of these vessels, the certifications should reduce the requirement for Port State Controls to every two years. With fewer inspections needed, Owners win more freedom and peace of mind, in the knowledge that their vessels are operating under the highest levels of regulatory standards.
