61m/200’ Lürssen LUNARIS saves three people in Vanuatu search-and-rescue operation

The 61m/200’ Lürssen LUNARIS (ex MARGUERITE), part of the Fraser Yacht Management fleet, joined a search-and-rescue operation off Vanuatu on Friday, September 11, saving the lives of three people.

The inter-island ferry MV MATUI sank between the islands of Santo and Ambae, with 47 passengers on board, according to The Associated Press.
After more than 12 hours of operations in challenging conditions, LUNARIS rescued three people from the water, having arrived approximately 24 hours after the ferry was believed to have sunk.
The Owner and his family were on board during their voyage around the world, when LUNARIS joined the rescue effort. The operation demonstrated the yacht’s exceptional seakeeping capabilities and Lürssen build quality in extreme weather conditions.
Fraser extends its sincere appreciation to the Owner and his family for their courage and commitment, and commends the Captain and crew of LUNARIS for their rescue efforts throughout the demanding operation. Their seamanship and calm response in difficult conditions deserve recognition, alongside everyone who assisted. Our thoughts are with those affected.
