Project MASTER marks major milestone with technical launch in Harlingen

Fraser is delighted to share the news about the technical launch of Project MASTER, the 70M/229’ explorer yacht currently undergoing a major conversion at Icon Yachts in the Netherlands. As a key construction milestone, the launch marks the completion of the first stage of the conversion which entailed extending MASTER’s stern, building the steel superstructure and installing the eVSP drive units. MASTER has now been moved to ICON Yacht’s inside dry dock for outfitting.

The launch was highlighted by remarks from the shipyard owner, Micca Ferrero, joined by project stakeholders, design collaborators and key industry figures including representatives from the yacht’s exterior design team at Espen Øino International. Speaking at the launch, Ferrero said: “This marks the successful conclusion of phase one of Project MASTER. As the first major project at ICON Yachts under my ownership, it’s an incredibly proud moment for me and the entire team.”
MASTER was conceived with the goal of being the most capable explorer yacht on the planet, purpose-built for extreme cruising in absolute luxury, comfort and safety.
Originally constructed as an ERRV (Emergency Rescue and Repair Vessel) at Kleven Shipyard in Norway, the platform was selected for the major conversion on account of her large flat aft deck, wide beam, robust bow and proven seakeeping capability.
The talented Espen Øino was tasked with streamlining the exterior design while preserving the fortress-like bow and uncompromising lines. The British firm Winch Design developed the interior layout, melding the rugged exterior with an attractive, graceful and functional six stateroom interior.
Powered by a hybrid diesel-electric system with Voith eVSP propulsion, Project MASTER offers exceptional maneuverability, low noise levels, low emissions and a 6,700nm range. The eVSPs also provide Dynamic Positioning and stabilization underway and at anchor. Her five generators powering the hybrid diesel electric systems comply with IMO Tier III regulations (future-proofed for Tier IV) enabling MASTER to use her power bank for navigating short distances, like entering port, or to power the hotel amenities while at anchor so guests can enjoy immersive al fresco dining in perfect silence.
Fraser broker Dennis Frederiksen commented: “Project MASTER ticks all the boxes. A double-skinned commercial hull from a pedigree shipyard, two designer superstars curating her exterior and interior design and layout, an innovative low maintenance propulsion system – this is an unmatched opportunity to own a best-in-class exploration yacht ready in a fraction of the time it would take to build her from new.”
Project MASTER is for sale with Fraser. With her core structural work complete and outfitting underway, she presents a rare opportunity for a discerning Owner to personalize the final stages of the build to their exact vision with significantly reduced lead time compared to a similar caliber full-custom new build and at an exceptionally competitive price.
