Safety Superintendent

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented person for the safe and compliant operation of yachts within Fraser’s managed fleet. This role is ideal for a professional with a solid background in shipboard operations, particularly in a leadership role such as Chief Officer, surveyor or other relevant shore-based experience in vessel safety and compliance.

Working as part of the Safety & Compliance team, the Safety Superintendent will assist in maintaining the fleet’s compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC, and other applicable international regulations, while supporting Captains and crew in fostering a strong onboard safety culture.

Compliance & Certification

• Monitor and support yacht compliance with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC, STCW, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other applicable regulations.
• Participate in internal audits to verify compliance with the Fraser safety management system.
• Coordinate and assist with Flag State inspections.
• Assist in maintaining and updating the Safety Management System (SMS) to reflect regulatory updates and operational improvements.
• Track and organize vessel certification (Flag, Class, statutory) and ensure all documents remain valid and up to date.
• Assist with Port State Control preparations and post-inspection actions.

Safety Monitoring & Support

• Liaise with Captains, Chief Officers, and the DPAs to address operational safety concerns or findings.
• Review and analyze safety reports, near misses, and incidents. Contribute to root cause analysis and preventive action plans.
• Monitor and ensure close-out of outstanding non-conformities and corrective actions.
• Contribute to fleet-wide circulars and advisories based on incident trends or regulatory changes.
• Support the DPA and CSO in their functions, including emergency response readiness and crisis coordination, if required.

Job experience & education

• Certificate of Competence at operational level with 3 years’ service onboard yachts, degree in engineering or similar qualification
• Solid understanding of ISM, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, and STCW frameworks.
• Familiarity with Flag State (e.g. Cayman Islands, Marshall Islands, Malta) and Class requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English, other languages an advantage.
• Designated Person Ashore (DPA) & Company Security Officer certification are an advantage.
