Learn about the Maldives’ indigenous culture and way of life at Dhigurah Island, at the southern tip of the Ari Atoll. The local villages welcome visitors and demonstrate traditions that have continued for centuries. As one of the longest islands in the Maldives, two-thirds of Dhigurah is still covered in natural forest, so it is a great spot in which to take a hike.
There are also many treasures in the waters surrounding Dhigurah, as it is within the famous whale shark region, where these enormous ethereal creatures can be found year-round. There are over 50 dive sites in the area, home to rays, sharks and turtles as well as vast quantities of tropical fish.
