The islands are of volcanic origin and a number of small rivers with beautiful waterfalls flow into the sea from the green canopied mountains, where there is also one of the most striking mountain crater lakes ever seen. The main island of Grenada is covered with fragrant spice trees, hence its nickname. There is nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, as well as cocoa and rare tropical flowers.
