There are few places on earth more child-friendly than the Caribbean, with its scores of idyllic islands fringed with soft white sand and warm clear sea just waiting to be explored by intrepid junior travellers. But as those of you looking into booking a Caribbean sailing holiday will probably know by now, there is enormous choice of where to go in this magical region spanning more than one million square miles.   Image by Barry Peters
So below, we at Fraser Yachts have pulled together some of our favourite islands which offer endless possibilities for children on board a Caribbean yacht charter

The Bahamas
The three different island chains which make up the Bahamas is an obvious choice to head for on a Caribbean sailing vacation if you have children on board for a number of reasons. Firstly, there is the very popular Atlantis resort on Paradise Island, which kids of all ages (and probably their parents too) will adore. Here, older children will go crazy for the water park, with its myriad of death-defying waterslides and hair-raising rides, while younger members of the family will enjoy the Atlantis Kids Adventure Park. Another place to head to whilst in the Bahamas on a Caribbean yacht charter is the island of Grand Bahama, where you will find the awe-inspiring UNEXSO where you can swim with dolphins

Antigua
With a different beach to head to on every day of the year, Antigua is a great island to bring swimming mad youngsters on a luxury yacht charter. It’s also home to Stingray City, where families can come to feed and stroke large shoals of rays which congregate in shallow waters off the coast. The snorkelling here is also first-class, which will no doubt appeal to older children

St Barts
For older children who are interested in shopping for labels, the French-speaking island of St Barts in the Lesser Antilles is the place to come. Dubbed the Saint Tropez of the Caribbean, the island’s capital town of Gustavia has a large number of designer outlets to rival Paris, London or Rome. The island also has a Nikki Beach – like the famous party venue in Saint Tropez – where you may want to escape to and let your hair down while the kids play with the water toys

The US Virgin Islands
Comprising of three islands St Thomas, St John’s and St Croix, the US Virgin Islands offers families on luxury yacht charter a whole host of things to do. Top of our list for all ages is the Virgin Islands National Park, which takes up two third of St John’s and which has lots of excellent hiking trails. Here you will also find Annaberg, a former sugar plantation which has basket-weaving demonstrations that the kids might enjoy.
